TRIPOLI, DECEMBER 27 – The Italian Armed Forces Chief of Staff, Gen. Claudio Graziano, paid a visit to the Italian soldiers and military doctors involved in Misrata in a humanitarian mission launched a few months ago to provide assistance and medical treatment to Libyan soldiers wounded in the fight against terrorism.
Gen. Graziano expressed his pride for the personnel taking part in the so called Operation Hippocrates: “Our armed forces will stay as long as deemed necessary by the Libyan authorities”, Graziano said, stressing that the stability of Libya is “a strategic priority” of the Italian defence committments.
The Italian military hospital at Misrata become operational on October 19, 2016. It offers 50 beds and the possibility of surgical intervention in the field of neurosurgery, face, hand and vascular surgery. Since October over 3,000 cases were treated. The Italian doctors did not work only in the military hospital but in the Mistrata civil hospital as well, while is training and assisting local medical teams. (@OnuItalia)
