ROME, JANUARY 3 – In separate posts on their Facebook profiles, the Italian Minister of Defense Roberta Pinotti and Under-sercretary Domenico Rossi thanked the Italian Armed Forces for their peacekeeping work because “it is also on account of them that Italy sits in the UN Security Council”, Pinotti said.
Minister Pinotti thanked specifically the men and women of the Italian Army, Air Force, Navy and the Carabinieri. “Italian soldiers are deployed in many peacekeeping missions: in Lebanon, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Kosovo, Sinai, Palestine and the Horn of Africa. The Italian Navy saved thousands human lives and has a strategic role in the security of the Mediterranean”.
Pinotti praised the Carabinieri as well: “The special unit Tutela del Patrimonio Culturale is a task force specialized in saving cultural heritage and preventing illegal trafficking of cultural objects”.
According to Rossi, “our men and women in uniform are extraordinary people who put their lives at risk bringing testimony to the values they professed when they joined the Amed Forces. Competence, dedication, sense of duty and of sacrifice, preparation, generosity are the qualities that make our soldiers recognized all over the world”. (@OnuItalia)
