TRIPOLI, JANUARY 19 – Italian General Paolo Serra, military adviser to the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Martin Kobler, held talks in Tripoli whith Mohamed Ammari Zayed from the Libyan Presidential Council and Minister for specialized advice in the government of national agreement.
The security situation in Libya was on top of the agenda. General Serra explained to his counterpart which measures UNSMIL is planning to take so that it can go back to Tripoli and start to work from the Libyan capital again, as discussed yesterday in Rome by the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Angelino Alfano and the UN Special Envoy Kobler.
After meeting Alfano, th UN representative welcomed the Italian decision to re-open the Embassy in Tripoli as ” very positive sign and a strong demonstration of support to all Libyan people”. (@OnuItalia)
