ROME, MARCH 19 – The Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Angelino Alfano will be in New York and Washington starting on Sunday with meetings at the United Nations. Alfano, according to a statement from the ministry of Foreign Affairs, will close the event Change the World Model UN, a yearly appointment for over 2,000 high school and college students organized by the Italian Ngo Associazione Diplomatici. The closing ceremony is being held in the General Assembly Hall. The Under-Secretary-General per l’Africa della Nazioni Unite, Maged Abdelaziz, is expected to attend as well, along with Bebe Vio, the young star of Paralympic fencing.
The Minister will start the day on Monday meeting representatives of American-Jewish organizations (American Jewish Committee, Anti-defamation League, B’nai B’rith International, Conference of Presidents, J Street Education Fund, World Jewish Congress) in the offices of the Italian mission at the UN. Alfano will then have a working lunch with a group of Italians with jobs of responsibility inside the United Nations. Before leaving for Washington, the Minister will be meeting with Secretary General Antonio Guterres. (@OnuItalia)
