ROME, MARCH 21 – Italy will host a global conference on rivers protection, the Italian Minister for the Environment Gianluca Galletti announced on Monday in Rome: “Rivers are a source of life, of identity, and they are crucial for peace and development”, Galletti said.
The conference, to be held within the end of the year, will bring together the experiences of the major rivers of the planet, both in terms of protection and of valorization. “Rivers are a source of life and of identity. They are also vectors of peace, dialogue, and community development”, Galletti said.
Ahead of the conference, Italy will launch the project Aquamadre, a new internationally recognized brand which will showcase the initiatives that the Ministry of the Environment will develop. “There is a common thread that connects Po to Mississippi, the biggest rivers of the world with the smallest brooks in Italy. The conference will be an opportunity to make us feel part of the same endeavor”, Galletti explained. (@OnuItalia)
