SHAMA, MARCH 30 – Officers of Lebanon’s Civil Protection “take classes” with Italian Blue Helmets. A first-level course, attended by more than twenty Lebanese operatives, came to a close at UNIFIL’s Sector West Headquarters.
Training activities in CBRN (chemical-biological, radiological and nuclear defense) and BLS (basic life support) were carried out by military personnel from the Combat Support Battalion and the Combat Service Support Battalion, led by the third regiment ‘Genio Guastatori’ and the logistics regiment ‘Pozzuolo del Friuli’, respectively.
It is the first time that training activities are addressed to Lebanese civil protection operatives and their aim is to teach local personnel about UNIFIL military procedures to allow for a joint response should an emergency arise in the region.
Officiating the consignment of the first certificates of participation was commander of the Combat Support Battalion, Colonel Ivano Borserini, standing in for Sector Commander Ugo Cillo. (@novellatop/vb)
