ROME, AUGUST 29 – Italy added its voice to the general condemnation of the latest North Korean missile launch: “Italy strongly condemns the launch of a ballistic missile overflying Japan, that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has fired last night. Pyongyang’s frequency of missile testing and the country’s ongoing development of related technologies are a source of deep and growing concern, besides causing the destabilisation of the wider region,” said Angelino Alfano, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
“Such actions represent yet another violation of the multiple resolutions issued by the UN Security Council. The North Korean missile and nuclear programme poses a serious threat to the global non-proliferation regime, and undermines peace and security in the world,” Minister Alfano added. “Our condemnation is all the more important today when we observe the International Day Against Nuclear Tests. The Democratic People’s Republic of North Korea must immediately abandon its nuclear programme,” Alfano concluded. (@OnuItalia)
