ROME, SEPTEMBER 15 – Humanitarian initiatives for a total value of 7 million Euros will be financed by the Italian Cooperation in favor of vulnerable groups in Chad and Niger. “They are both transit countries south of Libya and they are front and center in the Italian policy of development”, the Ministro of Foreign Affairs, Angelino Alfano, said today announcing the funding.
Niger will receive 4 million Euros to support health, water and food security initiatives. Part of the money will also go to the education sector. Three millim Euros will be spent in Chad to fight acute malnutrition and guarantee food and healthcare with a special focus to children.
Chad and Niger are focus countries for the Italian foreign policy because both transit corridors for migrants moving towards Libya. (@OnuItalia)
