NEW YORK, SEPTEMBER 16 – The UN Generally Assembly will kick off on September 19 but next Monday lots of activities at Headquarters will keep everybody busy.
At 8:30 a.m. in Conference Room 2, the High-Level event on Financing the 2030 Agenda –Role of UN will take place.
At 10:00 a.m., the President of the General Assembly and the Deputy Secretary-General will speak at the SDG Media Zone, while in the Delegates’ Dining Room the 2017 Inaugural Global Compact CEO Roundtable will take place.
At 10:45 a.m., at the General Assembly Stakeout, the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Italy, H.E. Mr. Angelino Alfano will address press. Alfano will then take part in the High-Level meeting on UN Reform at 11, location still TBD. The event is organized by the US Mission and President Trump is expected to speak.
At noon, the Secretary-General and the President of the General Assembly will co-host a High-Level meeting in the Trusteeship Council Chamber, to draw political attention to the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma.
At 1:00 p.m. the UN Private Sector Forum will take place in the Delegates’ Dining Room.
At 1:15 p.m. in Conference Room 12, there will be an event entitled “Rebuilding shattered lives and communities: Chibok and Yezidi girls and women” co-organized by the Permanent Missions of Canada, Denmark, Iraq and Nigeria, the European Union and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
At 1:30 p.m., the High-Level Forum on the Role of Young People in Global Compacts on Refugees and Migration will take place in International Peace Institute on 44th Street and 1stAvenue.
At 2:30 p.m., at the General Assembly Stakeout, European Commissioner for Trade, Cecilia Malmström will address press.
At the 3:00 p.m. in the Trusteeship Council Chamber, the High-Level meeting on Sexual Exploitation and Abuse will take place.
Also at 3:00 p.m., there will be the launch of the Equal Pay International Coalition in the ECOSOC Chamber. The event is organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO),UN Women and the OECD. (@OnuItalia)
