UNDP: from Tunisia to Carrara to learn how to use of chalk

CARRARA, SEPTEMBER 17 –  A training course sponsored by UNDP on the use of chalk for artistic, industrial and construction purposes folded in the Tuscan town of Carrara on September 16. The program was aimed at five educators from the Tunisian city of Tataouine, which has the second-largest chalk reserve in the world. The initiative is part of a project to boost businesses and create employment in southern Tunisia of the United Nations Development Program.

The city of Carrara has granted its support to the initiative and welcomed on September 13 also a delegation of the city administration of Tataouine to study issues of decentralized governance ahead of local elections in Tunisia at the end of December. The course took place at the professional institute for the industry and craftsmanship of marble ”P. Tacca” in cooperation with CNA, the national confederation of craftsmanship and small and medium-sized businesses.

The project was developed thanks to the cooperation with Anci Toscana, after a joint mission by Anci and the city of Carrara funded by UNDP Tunisia, which payed for training activities. The city of Carrara was involved over its know-how in the marble sector. (@OnuItalia)
