KHARTOUM, OCTOBER 19 – The UNDP initiative in Sudan “Community Security and Stabilization Programme, C2SP” officially starts today. The agreement, signed by the Sudanese Disarmament Demobilization and Reintegration Commission (SDDRC), the Agency of United Nations Development Programme and the Ambassador of Italy, provides actions in highly sensitive areas as the State of Blue Nile and the Mayo region – Khartoum suburbs – where the stabilization needs to be reached through a strong process of inter-tribal and inter-ethnic integration. The program is co-financed by AICS Khartoum – Italian Cooperation with 1.000.000 Euros.
The initiative, defined by the UNDP Country Director as “one of the flagship projects of the UN Agency”, aims at strengthening the resilience capacity of the weakest part of the population through the implementation of crucial services such as: better access to water and health facilities, education and youth employment.
“Creating better conditions to allow young people to access to labor market” as the Ambassador of Italy Fabrizio Lobasso put it “is not just a social issue: youth employment is one of the most important political means against the proliferation of radicalization, criminality and illegal immigration”.
“The program added value” concluded ambassador Lobasso “is not the simple development of human capital, but also the capacity of networking for local and international stakeholders so as to play all together in order to achieve outstanding results the soonest”. (@OnuItalia)
