Rome EXPO 2030 event on the side-lines of the UN Water Conference

NEW YORK, MARCH 23 – The city of Rome, acknowledged worldwide for its thousand year-old civilization, acted as protagonist during a promotional event for the Italian candidacy for EXPO 2030 in New York on the side-lines of the UN World Conference on Water, projecting itself among the metropolis planning a sustainable and locally-based future.

EXPO Rome, an ideal platform”, was co-chaired by the Permanent Representation of Italy to the UN and the EXPO Promoing Committee. The Minister of Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto Fratin opened the meeting after the welcome greetings of Ambassador Maurizio Massari, Permanent Representative of Italy to the UN, in front of an audience of over 200 international guests, including a dozen Ministers of Environment and Agriculture from different countries participating in the Water Conference, Ambassadors, delegates and UN representatives.

The event was followed by the presentation of the Rome EXPO 2030 project by Ambassador Sebastiano Cardi, Director of the Rome EXPO Campaign. The catalyst of the evening, which included a photographic exhibition of the Masterplan of Rome EXPO 2030, was the Italian commitment to create a Universal Exhibition characterised by concrete projects on water resources, renewable energy and zero emissions, triggering new international cooperation to accelerate the achievement of the 2030 UN Agenda for Sustainable Development. It was the first of the great promotional events organized abroad by the EXPO Promoting Committee. (@OnuItalia)
