GINEVRA, 12 APRILE – “Cari amici, Buona Pasqua. In this important day, I join with you in solidarity as we respond to the defining health crisis of our time”. In an Easter message to Italy Dr. Tedros Adahanom Gebreyesus, the World health Organization Director General, celebrated “the fortitude of the Italians who are facing great hardship and making immense sacrifices for their family, friends and neighbors”.
Tedros saluted the Italian doctors and nurses and all responders working day and night and commended Italian singer Andrea Bocelli “for his wish to share his great skills with you on this special day”. Bocelli performed a medley of holy songs like “Ave Maria” and Mascagni’s “Sancta Maria” during a live free Easter concert titled “Bocelli: Music for Hope” at the historic Duomo Cathedral in Milan, Italy.
“These are shining examples of the care, compassion and solidarity being shown by Italians all over. To sacrifice, to share, to support your community near and far. I stand with you in the struggle against Covid-19. The World Health Organization will continue to support you now and in the future to protect our precious gift of health and life”, said Tedros in his message. (@OnuItalia)
