Italian Youth Delegates attend (via Zoom) to General Assembly informal debate

NEW YORK, OCTOBER 21 – “Amplify the voices of the young people you represent and share your platform with them. Be brave in the name of what is right. Let your aspirations fuel your actions, for you are our inspiration”, the President of the General Assembly Volkan Bozkir said today in his address to the 3rd Committee informal debate with the UN Youth Delegates.

The virtual meeting was convened by Ambassador Olof Skoog, the European Union Represnetative to the UN and Jayathma Wickramanayake, the UN Special Envoy for Youth. Giulia Parenti and Simone Mostratisi, the two Italian Youth Delegates, attended the conversation on Zoom.

The Youth Delegates program is active in 37 countries. Giulia Parenti, from Rome, comes from the University of Bologna (Forli’ campus), where she is a second year student of International Sciences and Diplomacy. Simone Mostratisi, from Turin, studies International Sciences in his city of birth. They were both in New York in the fall of 2019 to take part to the youth segment on the 74th General Assembly.

Parenti and Mostratisi are the third cohort of Italian Youth Delegates. The 2018/2019 delegates were Pietro Fochi and Fiorella Spizzuoco, preceded the year before by Tommaso Murè and Giuseppina de Marco. Giulia is the third student from UniBo to cover the mandate as Youth Delegate: De Marco and Fochi were also students of Alma Mater. (@OnuItalia)
